Congratulations to our Falcon Boys Tennis Team for their outstanding performance at their League Tournament last week at the Bakersfield Racquet Club and BHS. For JV Boys, A.B. Singh and A.G. Singh received 2nd place in doubles, and Kevin Carrillo and Jayden Shinn received 4th place in doubles. Way to go Falcons!

​Our Varsity Boys Tennis team kicks off Round 1 of the Playoffs this Tuesday, April 28th at 3:00 pm! We are defending our home court against Hanford West. A huge congratulations to the Varsity Boys swimmers for winning 2nd place overall in the Sunnyside Sprints Invitational Swim Meet this past weekend!! We also had several of our swimmers medal in events: Luise Martinez Martin: 1st Place in the JV Boys 25 Yard Freestyle, Angel Lara: 2nd place in the JV Boys 25 Yard Backstroke, Jackson Ayers: 2nd place in the Varsity Boys 50 yard backstroke, Spencer Bell: 2nd place in the Varsity Boys 50 yard butterfly, Jaxtin Westrum: 2nd place in the JV girls 50 yard Breastroke, Vanessa Rocha: 3rd place in the JV Girls 50 yard Breastroke and Jashan Khangura: 3rd place in the JV boys 25 yard breastroke. Our E-sports teams took 1st place in two games this weekend: Super Smash Bros. and Valorant, competing against schools across the Kern High School District, including Delano. We are the Champions!
It was a long season, and our students put in a tremendous amount of effort to improve and compete at a high level. Our Varsity Valorant team had an incredible run, going undefeated all season and continuing that dominance through the playoffs to secure the championship.
In Super Smash Bros., the team has been grinding since January, and Tyson clinched the title by defeating the defending champions from Stockdale High School in the final match.
If you have any of these students in your classes, please take a moment to recognize their hard work and achievements; they truly earned it.

Our Band and Colorguard Students represented Independence in a huge way this weekend. Our JV and Varsity colorguards brought home the Gold and Bronze medals respectively in their Final Championships. And our Wind symphony students were invited and played in the C.M.E.A. State festival on Saturday in Riverside after being chosen as one the top 5 programs in the state. If you see any of these students today, please congratulate them.
