Those who are interested MUST attend one of the two informational meetings and complete a Link Crew application. Meetings will be held at lunch time in the Library on April 7th and 10th. And to our JV who crushed it at the Wasco Doubles Tournament, bringing home 3rd place!  Incredible job to both Tennis Teams for representing Independence. We are proud of your hard work and sportsmanship-Go Falcons!"<br><br>Congratulations to all the students who participated in Math Field Day on Saturday. Emma Dean got second place in Chalk Talk, and James Bramer got third place in Math Humor. The Varsity Team Medley and the Junior Varsity Team Medley both received Honorable Mention. Mrs. Flores, Miss Torres and all of your math teachers are very proud of you!<br><br>Congratulations to the Speech and Debate team for their strong performance at the National Qualifier this weekend. Andy McQuilliams and Leslie Bertram were finalists in Duo Interpretation, finishing 5th overall in the Valley. In addition, Mai Nguyen earned the position of 1st alternate to the National Tournament, 3rd overall, with their Program Oral Interpretation (POI). If you are able to meet after school, we will also be meeting after school.<br><br>Our Speech and Debate team has been incredibly busy, and successful, this week!<br>On Saturday, Amari Johnson earned a spot as a finalist, bringing home a trophy for their humorous interpretation of “Tree Huggers.” As a team, our Falcons soared to victory by outperforming the Serra District and earning the Small Team Sweepstakes Award, a testament to their collective hard work and dedication.<br>The momentum continued last night in Student Congress, where we secured victories in both houses. Valeria Carrillo placed 3rd in the House, while Katelyn Villegas-Rodriguez advanced as a finalist in the Senate and will go on to represent Independence High School at the State Competition this April!<br>We are so proud of these students for embodying what it means to RISE through excellence, perseverance, and teamwork. The Guitar Club had its first ever Battle of the Bands last Friday, and it was an awesome event!! Taking first place was Falcons Guerritos! Members include Xavier Rodriguez on bass, Noah Gonzalez on accordion, Santiago Guerrisi on guitar, William Rodriguez on drums and Oliver Herrera on vocals. They won $100, the number one trophy and a chance to headline at Bakersfield Sound Co.!! We also had fan favorites Spumcokior, with Ayden Thant on vocals and rhythm guitar, Matt Edralin on lead guitar, James Davis on keys and Devin Martinez on drums. They won a $50 prize and the Fan Favorite trophy! All the bands will get a chance to experience a workshop at Bakersfield Sound Co. to work on their professional chops!<br>The Guitar Club is super proud of our first ever Battle of the Bands - and we hope all those musicians out there are thinking about next year!!<br>Club members: show up to today's meeting because we will be discussing our next big show: this spring's AMP festival!!<br>	Be there, and as always, Rock On!!<br><br>Anyone interested in playing Softball who were not able to attend tryouts in the preseason are welcome to come out to the Softball fields early this week.
