· The Cross Country Team is still looking for runners for this season – please see Mr. P in room 711 if you are interested.
· The Freshman Football team still has room on their roster – please see Coach Schilhabel in room 714 if you are interested.

· Attention class of 2023 – if you are interested in running for Freshman class officer positions, you can pick up an application from the activities office on Monday. We will have President, Vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and Class Rep positions available.
· Attention Seniors – reminder that the packet information that you received on the blue cards are only available until the 29th of August – stop by the finance office and put down your deposit asap.
· ASB Stickers are available for purchase in the Finance office for $35 – they will give you free entrance to all I.H.S. athletic events within the Kern high school district, discounts for dances, clothing, etc. Also if you have already purchased one and it is not on your ID card please see Mrs. Moore in the Finance office.
· There are special packets available for anyone wanting to buy a yearbook and an ASB sticker – see Ms. Liz in the activities office if you need more information. Last day to purchase this packet is August 29th. The first 50 people to buy a packet will receive a free lanyard.
· Next Wednesday the 21st we will be having Mascot tryouts starting right after school in the activities office. Anyone interested needs to see Ms. Bravo or Ms. Liz in the Activities offices before then. Bring your spirit and enthusiasm to the tryouts
· New I.H.S. Shirts have arrived– if you are interested in sporting some new I.H.S. gear, stop by the finance office and check out our new inventory!
· To request a locker please go to the Independence website and click on Locker request form.
· ASB will be having a yard sale on I.H.S. gear on Tuesday the 20th in front of the activities office during lunch. Bring your cash and be ready to shop – items will be $5 or less. This is a one day sale so don’t miss out!
· The Senior Class will be having a meeting today in room 708 during lunch. We will be voting on our senior class shirt design. Join us and get all of the upcoming information about your Senior year.
· Art Club will meet in room 221 today during lunch. If you like Art join us!
· Any freshman interested in auditioning for a more advanced drama class may attend auditions on Monday or Tuesday (August 19 or 20) in Room 323. Please bring a memorized piece to perform - the piece should be approximately 1-2 minutes in length. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Heiss.
· The Spanish Club will be having their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, August 20 in room 814. The meeting will start at 12:00, so grab your lunch and come to learn about all the exciting activities that the club has to offer.
· Maroon Goons will have their first meeting in Miss Stout's Rm. 819 at lunch on Monday! Grab your food and lets talk about school spirit! See you there!
· Mandatory Link Crew leader meeting Monday at lunch in the library. Grab your lunch and come over – meeting will start @ 11:20.
