From your Dean of Athletics!
On behalf of Independence High School Athletics, I would like to welcome everyone to the 2020-2021 Falcon Sports Year. Here at Independence, it is our hope to provide a fun, exciting, and competitive atmosphere to allow our students to compete in the sports they love.
Given the current circumstances regarding Kern Country and the current pandemic, athletics has been postponed. Fall sports – Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country are now expected to begin practice in December if things improve. All other sports will take place during the 2nd semester after the winter break.
As always, we are very excited about our sports programs and our student-athletes at IHS. We have many programs that will be looking to make a run for a CIF Central Section Championship this school year. In the 12 years that our school has been open, our student-athletes have brought home 12 CIF Central Section titles across a variety of sports. We look forward to continued success!
We would like to thank you for your support of our student-athletes here at Independence, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our many athletic events when they resume.
- Mr. LaRosa
All students interested in participating in an Independence High School sport must complete a Sportsnet account and a physical exam from your primary family physician. Please go to https://sportsnethost.com/independencehs-parent to create an online account for your student. You can upload your student’s physical exam directly into your SportsNet account. If for some reason you are unable to upload a physical exam online you can turn it into the Athletics office prior to your student participating in a sport. (Do not turn in sports physicals to a coach, they must be uploaded or turned in to the Athletics office to be cleared).
Please Note: Sports Physicals are valid for only one school year and you must also update your Sportsnet account each year that your student participates in athletics at Independence High School.
