·         The Cross Country Team is still looking for runners for this season – please see Mr. P in room 711 if you are interested.

·         The Freshman Football team still has room on their roster – please see Coach Schilhabel in room 714 if you are interested.

·         The Back to School Blacklight Dance is this Friday from 7-9 in the I.H.S. gym. Freshman pay $1 or are free with an ASB Sticker, everyone else pays $5 or $4 with and ASB sticker.  Wear your white and neon and join us in the blacklight fun.

·         ASB will be having a yard sale on I.H.S. gear TOMORROW in front of the activities office during lunch.  Bring your cash and be ready to shop – items will be $5 or less. This is a one day sale so don’t miss out!

·         Attention class of 2023 – if you are interested in running for Freshman class officer positions, you can pick up an application from the activities office today.  We have President, Vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and Class Rep positions available.

·         Attention Seniors – reminder that the packet information that you received on the blue cards are only available until the 29^th of August – stop by the finance office and put down your deposit asap.

·         ASB Stickers are available for purchase in the Finance office for $35 – they will give you free entrance to all I.H.S. athletic events within the Kern high school district, discounts for dances, clothing, etc.  Also if you have already purchased one and it is not on your ID card please see Mrs. Moore in the Finance office.

·         There are special packets available for anyone wanting to buy a yearbook and an ASB sticker – see Ms. Liz in the activities office if you need more information. Last day to purchase this packet is August 29^th.  The first 50 people to buy a packet will receive a free lanyard.

·         Wednesday the 21^st  we will be having Mascot tryouts starting right after school in the activities office. Anyone interested needs to see Ms. Bravo or Ms. Liz in the Activities offices before then. Bring your spirit and enthusiasm to the tryouts

·         New I.H.S. Shirts have arrived– if you are interested in sporting some new I.H.S. gear, stop by the finance office and check out our new inventory!

·         To request a locker please go to the Independence website and click on Locker request form.

·         There will be a mandatory meeting for any Freshman wanting to run for class officer positions on Wednesday @ lunch in Portable 2.

·         Any freshman interested in auditioning for a more advanced drama class may attend auditions on today or tomorrow in Room 323.  Please bring a memorized piece to perform - the piece should be approximately 1-2 minutes in length.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Heiss.

·         The Spanish Club will be having their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, August 20 in room 814. The meeting will start at 12:00, so grab your lunch and come to learn about all the exciting activities that the club has to offer.

·         Maroon Goons will have their first meeting in Miss Stout's Rm. 819 at lunch Today! Grab your food and lets talk about school spirit! See you there!

·         Mandatory Link Crew leader meeting Today at lunch in the library. Grab your lunch and come over – meeting will start @ 11:20.
