Sports……

·         Cross Country has a meet tomorrow @ Woodward park in Fresno.

·         The Cross Country Team is still looking for runners for this season – please see Mr. P in room 711 if you are interested.

·         The Freshman Football team still has room on their roster – please see Coach Schilhabel in room 714 if you are interested.

Announcements…..

·         The Back to School Blacklight Dance is this Friday from 7-9 in the I.H.S. gym. Freshman pay $1 or are free with an ASB Sticker, everyone else pays $5 or $4 with and ASB sticker.  Wear your white and neon and join us in the blacklight fun.

·         ASB will be having a yard sale on I.H.S. gear Today in front of the activities office during lunch.  Bring your cash and be ready to shop – items will be $5 or less. This is a one day sale so don’t miss out!

·         Attention class of 2023 – if you are interested in running for Freshman class officer positions, you can pick up an application from the activities office today.  We have President, Vice-president, treasurer, secretary, and Class Rep positions available.

·         There are special packets available for anyone wanting to buy a yearbook and an ASB sticker – see Ms. Liz in the activities office if you need more information. Last day to purchase this packet is August 29th.  The first 50 people to buy a packet will receive a free lanyard.

·         Wednesday the 21st  we will be having Mascot tryouts starting right after school in the activities office. Anyone interested needs to see Ms. Bravo or Ms. Liz in the Activities offices before then. Bring your spirit and enthusiasm to the tryouts

·         If you still need a locker please go to the Independence website and click on Locker request form.

·         If you need to see your counselor, make sure to submit a request to see them. The request can be found on the Independence website, under the 'Counseling' tab. Do not submit multiple requests as counselors are working very hard to see all students.

  

Meetings…..

·         There will be a mandatory meeting for any Freshman wanting to run for class officer positions on Wednesday @ lunch in Portable 2.

·         Any freshman interested in auditioning for a more advanced drama class may attend auditions on today in Room 323.  Please bring a memorized piece to perform - the piece should be approximately 1-2 minutes in length.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Heiss.

·         The Spanish Club will be having their first meeting of the year on today in room 814. The meeting will start at 12:00, so grab your lunch and come to learn about all the exciting activities that the club has to offer.

·         GSA Club will have its first meeting this Wednesday at lunch in room 1002. GSA Club provides a safe space where students of all genders and sexuality can be themselves without judgement and support each other. Bring your lunch and join us!

·         For all interested in joining and participating on the independence speech and debate team this year. Our first practice will be after school until five in Room 617.

·         The Guitar Club will meet in P - 10 on Wednesday, August 28th during lunch.
