“Early Out Bell Schedule

  

Sports……

·         Congrats to our JV football on their win over Frontier on Friday.

·         Girls Basketball will be starting Fall workouts today for everyone not in a fall sport.

 

Announcements…..

·         Homecoming shirts are now on sale outside the activities office for $10.  Order yours today in the finance office.  Today is the last day to buy a homecoming shirt!!

·         If you still need PE clothes, the finance office has restocked medium and large shirts. Come by the finance office at lunch or after school to purchase yours.

·         The P.S.A.T. will be offered on Wednesday, October 16th here at Independence. The price is $20. Sophomores & Juniors:  You may purchase your P.S.A.T. at the finance office this week September 16th – 20th.  Fee waivers are available for Juniors who have completed the application and qualify for free and reduced lunch. This is first come first served and we only 300 total tests. Don’t miss out.

·         Sing Lum Elementary is looking for volunteers for their school carnival on Friday, October 18th. Come sign up with Mrs. Gillenwater in the Counseling Office during lunch. There is a mandatory meeting on October 2nd.

·         Community Service Reminder--The Adventist Health Volunteer program applications are due by Friday, September 20th. Please visit our website, go to the Counseling drop down menu, go to Counseling Homepage, and find Community Service on the side menu.

·         Seniors: Are you planning on applying to a UC? If so, UC Santa Cruz will be doing a presentation Tuesday October 1st in the library at 12:30. Sign-up in the Career Center to RSVP.

·         This week is Suicide Awareness Week. Join us in the quad each day for special events.  Monday is make a Falcon friend day (wear pink), Tuesday is tell a friend Tuesday (wear purple), Wednesday is love yout selfie Wednesday (wear Red), Thursday is Throwback Thursday (wear Neon), and Friday is High Five Friday (wear Maroon).

·         Attention Students - the Free and Reduced Lunch Application link is on our school website. Even though all students now receive a free lunch and breakfast, it is still important to complete the application for supplemental funding for tutoring, classroom supplies, and SAT and AP test fee waivers. The link is family.titank12.com and the class with the most applications completed will win an ice cream party during lunch!

·         There is a Christian College Fair at Bakersfield Christian High School on October 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Please visit the Career Center for more details.

·         The deadline for the National Honors Society has been pushed back to Friday, September 27th. If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior and interested in joining, pick up an application from the Activities Office.

 

Meetings…..

 

·         Please join the Battle of the Books Club in the library at noon on Tuesday. Find out how the battle works in high school!

·         Maroon Goon meeting today in Miss Stout's Room 819 at lunch. Get your food and come by with your school spirit!

·         The senior class needs more boys involved within the homecoming skit. Please inform Mrs. Giese or Jordan Amey if you’d like to be involved within the skip as soon as possible.
