Sports……

·         Volleyball today @ Golden Valley games are at 4:00, 5:00  and 6:15pm – good luck ladies.

·         Tennis today vs BCHS – JV @ home and Varsity @ BCHS – matches start @ 3:30 pm

 

Announcements…..

·         Attention class of 2020 – Jostens will be here at lunch today and tomorrow to sell cap and gowns, please stop by their table during lunch to buy yours. Get yours this week for the lowest price they offer.

·         Attention Seniors - If you have not purchased a Senior shirt – they are now on sale in the finance office.  This order also offers a long sleeved t-shirt and a crew neck if you want to add to your order.  This will be the only other sale for Senior Shirts this year.  Pick up your order form in the activities office.  

·         If you still need PE clothes, the finance office has restocked medium and large shirts. Come by the finance office at lunch or after school to purchase yours.

·         The P.S.A.T. will be offered on Wednesday, October 16th here at Independence. The price is $20. Sophomores & Juniors:  You may purchase your P.S.A.T. at the finance office this week September 16th – 20th.  Fee waivers are available for Juniors who have completed the application and qualify for free and reduced lunch. This is first come first served and we have already sold half the test available. Don’t miss out, get yours today.

·         Sing Lum Elementary is looking for volunteers for their school carnival on Friday, October 18th. Come sign up with Mrs. Gillenwater in the Counseling Office during lunch. There is a mandatory meeting on October 2nd.

·         Seniors: Are you planning on applying to a UC? If so, UC Santa Cruz will be doing a presentation Tuesday October 1st in the library at 12:30. Sign-up in the Career Center to RSVP.

·         This week is Suicide Awareness Week. Join us in the quad each day for special events.  Today is Throwback Thursday (wear Neon), and Friday is High Five Friday (wear Maroon). Come out to the quad at lunch for our activities

·         Attention Students - the Free and Reduced Lunch Application link is on our school website. Even though all students now receive a free lunch and breakfast, it is still important to complete the application for supplemental funding for tutoring, classroom supplies, and SAT and AP test fee waivers. The link is family.titank12.com and the class with the most applications completed will win an ice cream party during lunch!

·         There is a Christian College Fair at Bakersfield Christian High School on October 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Please visit the Career Center for more details.

·         The deadline for the National Honors Society has been pushed back to Friday, September 27th. If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior and interested in joining, pick up an application from the Activities Office.

 

Meetings…..

 

·         The senior class needs more boys involved within the homecoming skit. Please inform Mrs. Giese or Jordan Amey if you’d like to be involved within the skip as soon as possible.

·         There will be a Sikh Honors and Service Society meeting during lunch in room 804 today at lunch.

·         The first informational and planning meeting for the Interact (community service) Club. We will meet to discuss and plan upcoming events. We will meet at lunch today at 12 Noon in portable 8
