Independence High School

Tuesday, August 31, 2021

Good morning! It’s the last day of August, so hopefully the weather will start to cool down as we approach “Spooky Season!”  It’s Try-It-Tuesday, so try something new on campus today!  I’d suggest the frozen yogurt from the student store or stopping by a club during lunch!

Astronomy Club will have its first meeting of the year today during 5th-period lunch in room 901.  If you have 4th-period lunch, come by room 901 during 4th period and there will be a sign up sheet for you to fill out outside the door on a clipboard.  Thanks for your interest as we decide on a good time when we can all meet together.

There’s still time for freshmen to apply for ASB - the applications are on the IHS website under ASB or you can pick up a paper copy in the Activities Office.

If you’re involved in a club, please remember to fill out the renewal forms in order to reactivate your club for this school year.  Club forms can be found on the “Club Information” page under the “Activities” tab on the IHS website.

Pride Club will have its first meeting tomorrow at lunch.  Ms. Garrison will host during 4th period lunch in room 701 and Ms. Kolberg will host during 5th period lunch in the PAC.  Don’t miss the first meeting of the year!

Still interested in joining a sport?  We need players on our brand new water polo teams - starting spots are still available!  Plus, you get to use the beautiful new pool next door! Also, football and girls tennis need players, as well!  Come by the Activities Office for more info!

This Thursday, Link Crew leaders will wear their orange shirts and meet with their freshman teams during 4th-period lunch.  Then, we’ll meet up at our Freshman Tailgate at 4pm for a free BBQ and pre-game party!  Come enjoy some great food, fun, and football - admission to the Frosh/Soph game is free for freshmen and Link Crew leaders!

Now go try something new and awesome today, Falcons!
