Good morning, Falcons!  This week’s News from the Nest will go live tomorrow morning - sorry for the delay, but we wanted to get all the important information for the next couple of weeks crammed in there for you!

Today is National Pretend To Be a Time Traveler day, which can really go one of two ways, right?  I mean, you could be from the future, in which case we’d all look like cavemen to you, but you could also be from the early 2000s, and trust me, you wouldn’t survive long in that kind of fashion.  Low-rise jeans should stay in the past, thank you very much.

Our door decorating contest has officially begun!  Teachers, let us know if you need more paper - we can’t provide any other supplies, but if you need a different color, please let us know.  Use the form Mrs. Heiss emailed to you last week.  Judging will take place on Friday, December 10.  Please note that it may rain this week, so you may want to decorate the inside of your door so your art doesn’t get ruined.  Winners will be announced on Monday, December 13 - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners will earn donuts!

Senior shirts may be picked up during 5th-period lunch (do not come during or between classes - you will be sent back to class).

We’ve started collecting change for the Ronald McDonald House this week - this is an organization that provides housing and support for families with children in the hospital.  It doesn’t have to be pennies - donate whatever you can!  The winning class will earn donuts!

We have another blood drive coming up on December 16 - if you’re interested in participating, please come pick up a permission slip from the Activities Office starting today and set up your appointment online - use the QR code that is posted on the flyers around campus.  Remember - you must be at least 16 years old to donate and everyone must get paperwork signed by parents/guardians.  No appointments can be made until you’ve submitted the necessary paperwork.

Before you know it, it will be 2022, which means it’s time for another Food Sale Day!  Our next Food Sale Day is scheduled for Thursday, January 6.  Make sure your club advisor signs up using the form they received in their email.  Also, all finance office forms must be submitted by 12/16 in order to participate.

If you would like to buy a gift for a local child in need, please visit the front office and select a star from the tree - check in with Mrs. Hoopiiaina to get signed up.  We’ll be delivering them the week before break.  Help give a child a great holiday!

Attention staff: It’s time to show IHS who rules the school: MAROON OR SILVER?  Make sure to check out the email you received regarding the Maroon/Silver Reboot - there’s a Canvas tile with all the information you’ll need.  There are plenty of ways to earn points in the next few weeks - show us which team is the hungriest for the win!

We’ll be having a spirit week starting Monday, December 13th.  Get ready for some dress-up days, lunch competitions, and great prizes!  Monday’s theme is holiday socks and/or pajamas, and Tuesday is “Dress Like an IHS Teacher” or, for teachers, “Dress Like a ‘Gen-Zer’”!  We’ll also have Candy Cane Grams on sale Monday - Wednesday during lunch - we’ll deliver them for you on Thursday the 16th!

Attention seniors!  A representative from Jostens will be on campus during both lunches today to provide information about ordering your cap and gown for graduation!

This afternoon, from 2:35-5:00pm, the Pride Club will be hosting their HoliGAY party in the PAC. Please join us for some hot cocoa and community!

The finance office will be closed today and tomorrow.

All boys who are interested in playing golf this year please meet with Coach Olejnik in Portable 1 during lunch today.  All are welcome.

Seniors who will be attending Taft College next year:  You can sign up for the Taft Application workshop in the Counseling Office before school, lunch or after school.  Taft will be on campus today.  You must attend this workshop to move to the next step in the registration process.
