Good morning, Falcons! Hope you all had a great weekend!
Here’s an interesting fact: Until Congress passed the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, women couldn't get credit cards in their own name. Often, they had to bring a man along to cosign for them. Legal work done by late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg laid the foundation for the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, as well as many other basic rights women have today, including the ability to attend state-funded schools, protection from pregnancy discrimination at work, and the ability to serve on juries.
Seniors, you must order your cap and gown! Jostens will be back on campus THIS THURSDAY during 5th-period lunch! Don’t miss out!
Big news in the Ag world! IHS senior Ashley Cardona is a state proficiency finalist (top 3 in the state of California) for her Supervised Agriculture Experience Project (SAE) in Viticulture Production. SAEs are experiential learning projects that give students enrolled in the Agriculture Program hands-on experience in agriculture production. Ashley’s SAE project is working for Illume Ag in the table grape vineyards. Over the past three years Ashley has worked 1511 hours and earned $21,628. She’ll be competing against two other California FFA students at the State FFA Convention at the end of the month with the hope of becoming a State Proficiency winner. We’re so proud of you, Ashley!
Huge congratulations to our Varsity colorguard team for coming in 2nd on Saturday, beating out 5 other schools! I can’t imagine trying to dance while simultaneously throwing flags, rifles, and swords - what an incredible performance!
We’re hosting a Sadie Hawkins dance on March 17 here on campus from 3:30 - 5:30! We’ll have music, snacks, and possibly a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (real gold not guaranteed)! Tickets will be available in the finance office starting today for $3 with an ASB sticker or $5 without an ASB sticker. Remember, you can only visit the finance office during lunch or before/after school. Anyone who comes during class will be sent back.
We will have an open mic in the library during lunch on Monday, March 28. This will be our first Open Mic since 2019 and we can't wait to see the talent we have here at IHS! You can do karaoke, play an instrument, or even read an original poem. Show your skills! We need volunteers to help run it AND to perform. Stop by the library counter to sign up!
Have a great Monday, Falcons!
