Good morning, Falcons, and happy Friday! Don’t forget, we lose an hour this weekend, so make sure you get some extra sleep on Sunday! And if you still have analog clocks, make sure to set them an hour ahead!
This Wednesday, KERO News in Bakersfield featured an article about a local woman who’s working to make Bakersfield a more inclusive place. Noor Qwfan was born in Yemen but migrated to the U.S. with her family in 1992. She grew up in Bakersfield and also graduated from CSUB. Through her art and her podcast, This Muslim Girl Podcast, Noor said she hope to inspire women and girls out there to speak up and believe in themselves. She said that being able to see someone who looks like you can motivate women to feel their best. “I needed someone like that growing up, and now that I have the opportunity to maybe be like that for someone else, that would be amazing.”
If you have a story about an inspiring woman you’d like to feature, please contact Mrs. Heiss!
Today is our rescheduled Fun Friday during 4th period! We’ll have Link Crew members out in the quad playing music and games - come hang out and win some prizes!
Teachers, you should have an email with a list of the Link Crew leaders who are excused from 4th period today - they should check in with you first before heading out to the quad.
We’re hosting a Sadie Hawkins dance on March 17 here on campus from 3:30 - 5:30! Tickets are available in the finance office for $3 with an ASB sticker or $5 without an ASB sticker. Remember, you can only visit the finance office during lunch or before/after school. Anyone who comes during class will be sent back. School dress code applies, but we hope to see everyone in green, gold, and rainbow! It’s casual, so don’t come in ball gowns!
We will have an open mic in the library during lunch on Monday, March 28. This will be our first Open Mic since 2019 and we can't wait to see the talent we have here at IHS! You can do karaoke, play an instrument, or even read an original poem. Show your skills! We need volunteers to help run it AND to perform. Stop by the library counter to sign up!
Have a great weekend, Falcons!
