Good morning, Falcons! We’re testing today, again - juniors, good luck! You’re going to be awesome!
Today’s Women’s History Month fact is in honor of Camila Chávez, daughter of Dolores Huerta and niece of Cesar Chavez, who received the James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award last week. According to KERO 23, as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, she’s a leader in her own way. The foundation awarded Chávez and DHF $250,000, and a mural commissioned in Chávez’s honor. It’s the work DHF is doing in the communities most impacted by voting apathy and the pandemic, that Camila believes the foundation recognized. “We are really working to organize, to engage community members, who may not think they can make a difference, and we’re teaching and coaching and showing them how. And they are becoming their own leaders.”
If you have a story about an inspiring woman you’d like to feature, please contact Mrs. Heiss! Thank you to the people who have already sent in ideas! Keep them coming!
Powderpuff and Ironman games have been rescheduled to next Tuesday, April 5! Come watch juniors and seniors battle it out on the volleyball court and football field!
Congratulations to Mrs. Sherrill and Mr. Olejnik, whose classes won the March Madness door decorating contest! You’ll get donuts on Friday!
Seniors, remember that information regarding graduation and end-of-year activities is posted on the IHS homepage!
Tickets for prom, senior activities, and Grad Night are on sale! For Grad Night, you’ll need a completed permission slip in order to purchase your ticket - slips are available in the Activities Office. Remember, if you’re bringing someone from outside Independence to prom, you’ll need to have a form completed in the dean’s office.

Also, no tickets will be sold during class time. Please visit the finance office before school, after school, or during lunch.
Today’s ASB meeting is during 7th period - teachers, students will check in with you first and then head to P2.
Have a great day, Falcons!
