Good morning, Falcons, and happy Friday!  Tomorrow is Mr. Malamma’s birthday - thanks for all you do!  Make sure to eat some cake!

Interested in being a leader on campus next year?  The application for ASB is live on the IHS website homepage!  Contact Mrs. Heiss with any questions.  Applications are due TODAY and teacher recommendations are due 4/26.  Applicants, please check your Kern High email this afternoon for the QR code you’ll need to sign up for your interview slot!  Interviews will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday next week from 11:45 - 3:00.

We have the renowned “Clash of Classes” rally coming up next Thursday (4/28)!  Make sure to check in with your class reps to help make posters and plan your dance routines!  This is an IHS tradition that we haven’t been able to celebrate since 2019!  Remember, each class has a color and theme:

  • Seniors: Early 2000s (Pink)

  • Juniors: 1990s (Blue)

  • Sophomores: 1980s (Yellow)

  • Freshmen: 1970s (Green)

Next week is a Spirit Week, so make sure you dress up and come out to the quad to join in the musical chair competition.  Remember, winners throughout the week will compete in the rally for a huge prize!

Monday is 1970s, so bust out your disco gear!  I expect to see flared pants, leisure suits, wild colors, and feathered hair!  Tuesday is 1980s, so bust out your best neon, pegged pants, and members only jackets!  Wednesday is the 90s, and Friday is early 2000s (Y2K!).

Do you like to dance? Do you have mad skills and are currently part of the class of 2025? Perfect! Come to the activities office and sign up to represent the freshmen class in the next rally! We are representing the '70s decade and need freshmen dancers who want to perform! Stop by the activities office for more info and to sign up!

Are you a current sophomore or junior interested in joining Link Crew next year? If so, come to one informational meeting during lunch in the library on April 26 or April 27. The 4th-period lunch meeting starts at 11am, and the 5th-period lunch meeting starts at 12pm. You'll receive an application and find out what it takes to be a Link Crew Leader!  Come find out how being in Link Crew will help make next year amazing!

Cheer tryouts are next week!  Anyone interested in auditioning for next year’s team should join the Band app, which includes all the required forms and information.  You can find the QR code on the IHS homepage.

Juniors - if you’d like to apply to be a “Flower Girl” for graduation, please find applications in the Activities Office.  Flower girls act as the “honor guard” for the ceremony, and it’s a great opportunity to add to your resume!

Attention JUNIORS!  T.A. forms for the next school year are now available in the counseling office at Mrs. Gillenwater's desk.  Please DO NOT come during class time.  Again, this is for current juniors only.

Applications for prom royalty are available in the Activities Office.  Juniors will run for Prince/Princess and seniors will run for King/Queen!  Applications are dueTODAY! Don’t miss out!

Seniors, if you’d like to audition to give a speech for this year’s graduation ceremony, tryouts will be held on Monday after school in P2.  Speeches must be under 2 minutes in length and should incorporate the senior motto: “We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling 22!”  You don’t need to be memorized for the auditions.

Seniors, remember that information regarding graduation and end-of-year activities is posted on the IHS homepage!  We’d also like to hear what your plans are for next year, so use the form linked on the Class of 22 Instagram page to let us know what you’ll be doing!  College, work, gap year?  We want to celebrate you!

Tickets for prom and senior activities are still being sold from the finance office.  Please make sure you have all of your paperwork signed and your debt cleared before purchasing a ticket.  This week, prom ticket prices are $55.  Remember, if you’re bringing someone from outside Independence to prom, you’ll need to have a form completed in the dean’s office.  Absolutely no tickets will be sold during class time.  Please visit the finance office before school, after school, or during lunch.

Have a great weekend, Falcons!
