Good morning, Falcons!  Happy birthday to Ms. Garrison - hope you have a fabulous day!

Thursdays we wear GREEN!  Wear green every Thursday this month to recognize the importance of mental health!

Here’s your daily fact in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month:  Social media can be a blessing and a curse for teens and adults alike. In recent years, there has been growing concern about the effects of social media on the developing brains of teens. Research indicates there is a strong link between heavy social media use and teen mental health problems. Online social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat can inadvertently put undue pressure on teens by putting forth unattainable body images, status symbols, or other successes attainable by only a select few (from Adolescent Wellness Academy).

Calling all artists!  If you’d like to enter the Mental Health Awareness Art Contest, please submit your piece to the counseling office by Wednesday, May 11.  The artwork should demonstrate self-care and self-love/acceptance and send a message of hope.  Please submit your piece on 8x11 paper.

Remember - help is available and you don’t have to suffer alone!  Check in with our social worker, substance abuse specialist, intervention specialist, or your counselor!  And every Monday during lunch, a mental health provider in Kern County will be on campus in front of the Admin building to provide more information about treatment options!

Attention JUNIORS!  T.A. forms for the next school year are now available in the counseling office at Mrs. Gillenwater's desk.  Please DO NOT come during class time.  Again, this is for current juniors only.

PRIDE shirts are currently on sale for $12 in the finance office - make sure to fill out the digital order form.  QR codes are located by the finance office, rooms 1104 and 701, and on the group REMIND.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Trent in 1104.

Voting for next year’s class officers will wrap up today in your English classes.  We’ll announce next year’s ASB tomorrow morning!

Looking for a way to stay busy and be productive this summer?  Consider taking a Summer School Course at ROC/CTEC.  The ROC/CTEC Summer School Application is now open on their web-site (roc.kernhigh.org).  The application will be open until Friday June 3rd.  Don't wait....Applications are time-stamped and classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. There are only a certain amount of spaces per class.  Classes being offered are:  3D Design, Personal Trainer and Advanced Selling for Small Business Success.  Class descriptions are available at roc.kernhigh.org.

Prom is sold out! Please remember that you must arrive to prom before 8pm - no latecomers will be allowed.

Have a fabulous Thursday!
