Good morning, Falcons! Congratulations to our athletes who played on Friday - track, softball, and baseball athletes, we’re so proud of you!  And a big shoutout to our theatre department for putting on an amazing show! Every week gets busier and busier, so cherish each moment we have left!

Seniors!  If you haven’t picked up your cap and gown yet, please stop by the Activities Office before school, during lunch, or after school.  If you haven’t ordered yours yet, contact Jostens immediately - time is running out!

We’ll be meeting with all seniors tomorrow to review graduation activities and remind you of important deadlines!

Art Club is hosting a Chalk Drawing Contest on May 23rd and May 24th, right after school. We are taking over the ground outside of the Library and transforming the cement into works of art as part of our IHS Art Showcase! Family and friends can join in the fun, too. Materials will be provided and you do not need to have experience! $5 purchase in the Finance Office to participate. See Mrs. Rossetto in room 221 for more details.

Congratulations to Andrea Chaidez for winning the Laura Mitchell Ghilarducci scholarship award for her amazing art!  What a huge accomplishment!  Don’t miss out on her artwork, along with our other district winners, Kaitlyn Nickell and Roberto Mercado, at the Falcon Fine Art Showcase on May 24th!

Want a 2022 yearbook?  Sign up for the waitlist on Jostens.com.  We only have about 20 extra books.  If you are not on the waitlist, you will not be able to purchase one.

This Thursday, our Link Crew Leaders for the 2022-2023 school year will have a day to get to know each other, play games, and plan some great activities for next year!  We’ll be in the gym!

This Friday, come celebrate the talents of our band, orchestra, colorguard, and drumline at the annual “Spring Fest!”  Then, next Monday, May 23, our choir will be performing their last concert of the year!  Don’t miss out on some amazing music and performances!

Attention Star Wars fans! Because of the minimum days on the next two Fridays, the Millenium Falcons will be meeting on Thursday the 19th and Thursday the 26th. This is the way!

Are you struggling with your mental health?  Remember - help is available and you don’t have to suffer alone!  Check in with our social worker, substance abuse specialist, intervention specialist, or your counselor!  And every Monday during lunch, a mental health provider in Kern County will be on campus in front of the Admin building to provide more information about treatment options!

It’s time for SPRING CLEANING!  Cleaning out your PE lockers, that is!  All PE lockers must be cleared out by Friday, May 27.

Attention JUNIORS!  T.A. forms for the next school year are now available in the counseling office at Mrs. Gillenwater's desk.  Please DO NOT come during class time.  Again, this is for current juniors only.

Looking for a way to stay busy and be productive this summer?  Consider taking a Summer School Course at ROC/CTEC.  The ROC/CTEC Summer School Application is now open on their web-site (roc.kernhigh.org).  The application will be open until Friday June 3rd.  Don't wait....Applications are time-stamped and classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. There are only a certain amount of spaces per class.  Classes being offered are:  3D Design, Personal Trainer and Advanced Selling for Small Business Success.  Class descriptions are available at roc.kernhigh.org.

Seniors, Mrs. Hoyt is planning the Senior Awards Ceremony on June 1st.  We at  Independence High School  would like to recognize the scholarships and awards you have received. Please stop by the Career Center or email her at [email protected]

Have a great Monday!
