This weekend, our Speech and Debate team traveled to compete at the prestigious University of California, Berkeley California Invitational Tournament, where students from across the country gathered to showcase their talents in forensics. Our team represented our school with professionalism, poise, and determination, each student completing four rigorous rounds of competition.
We are especially proud of our Duo team, Andellyn McQuilliams & Leslie Bertram who advanced to the semifinals after outperforming more than 30 other entries. In addition, our Program Oral Interpretation competitor, Mai Nguyen, truly exemplified what it means to RISE, surpassing 47 competitors and earning an impressive second-place Silver Plate finish.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work our students continue to demonstrate. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the state qualifying tournament this weekend in Fresno.

Today’s quote comes from Mae Jemison:
“Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.”

This quote reminds us that just because someone else can’t see your vision doesn’t mean it isn’t possible. Your dreams, goals, and talents are valid. Don’t let doubt—yours or anyone else’s—stop you from reaching for greatness.

Let’s walk into today confident, determined, and ready to rise.
