The Daily Falcon: Friday, February 27th 2026

Please stop by the cafeteria today to find your Valentine's Hearts before they disappear today

Mu Alpha Theta students: This is just a reminder to pay for your membership fees of $10 at the finance office by next Wednesday, March 4th.
Mu Alpha Theta members also please come by Room #1007 during lunch if you plan on participating in Math Field Day on Saturday, March 7th. We will be finalizing the list of participants. If you are able to meet after school, we will also be meeting after school.

Our Speech and Debate team has been incredibly busy, and successful, this week!
On Saturday, Amari Johnson earned a spot as a finalist, bringing home a trophy for their humorous interpretation of “Tree Huggers.” As a team, our Falcons soared to victory by outperforming the Serra District and earning the Small Team Sweepstakes Award, a testament to their collective hard work and dedication.
The momentum continued last night in Student Congress, where we secured victories in both houses. Valeria Carrillo placed 3rd in the House, while Katelyn Villegas-Rodriguez advanced as a finalist in the Senate and will go on to represent Independence High School at the State Competition this April!
We are so proud of these students for embodying what it means to RISE through excellence, perseverance, and teamwork. Congratulations, Falcons!

Attention students - no confetti eggs are allowed on campus. Anyone found with them will be subject to discipline, including suspension. Also, please remember that this is a closed campus - no one is allowed to leave campus for lunch.
Welcome to the 27th day of Black History Month. As we continue to honor leaders who stood firm in their values and beliefs, we are reminded of the importance of having purpose and integrity.
Today’s quote comes from Malcolm X:
“A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”
This quote reminds us that knowing who you are and what you believe in helps guide your choices. When you stand for respect, honesty, and hard work, you build a strong foundation for your future.
Let’s move through today with confidence, character, and a commitment to doing what is right.
