Greetings, Falcon Families!
We have officially started the second quarter of the year! Report cards will be mailed out on Friday, October 18 - remember, if your student participates in a sport or activity, they must maintain a 2.0 GPA; eligibility will be determined on October 21. If your student needs some additional help, we offer after-school math tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the library (a late bus will be provided). Also, all IHS students have 24-hour access to Tutor.com, which provides individualized support in a variety of subjects.
We have a number of exciting events this month! Our Falcon singers hosted their first concert of the year last week, and our theatre students are preparing for the 40th-annual Shakespeare Festival at Bakersfield College! The Falcon Marching Band has launched their competition season, showcasing our amazing musicians and colorguard performers! On Wednesday, we'll host our annual Principal Partners Day - this is a chance for us to showcase the myriad programs and services offered at IHS, as well as an opportunity to connect with local community members and organizations. We'll be honoring our senior volleyball athletes on Wednesday evening - come out and cheer for our team as we square off against Highland! Students and staff alike are looking forward to our first Food Sale Day this Thursday, with more than 25 clubs participating!
If your freshman, sophomore, or junior student missed our first picture day, they'll have another opportunity on Tuesday, October 15. Students will be called by grade level to report to the gym lobby for photo makeups/re-takes. Order forms will be provided.
Conditioning for winter sports begins this month - please make sure you’ve submitted your student’s athletic packet and sports physical! Boys and girls basketball begins October 14th, wrestling begins October 14 and boys and girls soccer begins October 21.
