Greetings, Falcon Families!
November begins our “Season of Giving” here at IHS. The United Nations Club and ASB are hosting our annual Thanksgiving food drive from November 12 to November 19. Please send any nonperishables with your student to help the cause! Our Fall Blood Drive is scheduled for November 21 in collaboration with Houchin Community Blood Bank; students 16 and older are invited to participate. In December, we'll launch our annual “Adopt-A-Star” children’s gift drive and our “Dime Wars” competition, with proceeds donated to a local nonprofit. If you’d like to help with any of these events, please contact our Activities Office at [email protected].
Congratulations to our girls water polo and football athletes for their hard work during playoffs - they had an amazing year! As our winter sports begin to practice, scrimmage, and compete, we want to honor the tremendous fall athletic season at our annual Fall Sports Awards Night on November 19, beginning at 6:00pm in the PAC. We’ll have some great photo highlights, along with speeches and tributes to the many exciting moments throughout the season.
Don't miss out on our fall musical - the hilarious Spamalot! - opening this Thursday! Shows are at 7pm, and doors open at 6:30. There's also a Saturday matinee at 2pm!
Interested in meeting with our administrative team? Parents are invited to attend our “Pizza with the Principal” November 18 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Hope to see you there! Also, please join us for "National Parent Involvement Day" in the student drop-off area on Thursday from 8:30 - 9:00 - we'll be handing out goodie bags to show how much we appreciate our Falcon families!
Our next progress report window opened November 8. Progress reports will be mailed Friday, November 22. Reminder: if your student needs some additional help in one or more subjects, we have an excellent after-school tutoring program that runs from 4:15pm to 5:15pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a bus provided for students needing later transportation.
Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 661.834.8001 - we appreciate your support!
Sincerely,
Guillermo Alvarado, Ed.D
