Greetings, Falcon Families!
We hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of fall weather - don't forget that we "fall back" one hour this weekend for Daylight Savings! We have an upcoming holiday on Monday, November 11 (in observance of Veterans Day), and a well-deserved break for the week of Thanksgiving, from November 25 through November 29.
The season has ended for our tennis, golf, and volleyball teams. Each team fought valiantly during playoffs, and we are so proud of their many successes. This Friday, November 8 our Varsity football team will play the first round of playoffs at home. Please come to support our players. Conditioning and tryouts have begun for our winter sports, including basketball, soccer, and wrestling, with great turnouts for each of the teams. We cannot wait to see what the season holds for our players.
Thank you to everyone who came out for our 3rd annual Trunk or Treat! We had a great turnout, with live music from our Guitar Club, delicious food, fantastic trunk displays and creative costumes. Congratulations to LISTOS for winning favorite overall!
This Wednesday, four of our amazing seniors will be honored with awards for scholarship, leadership, and community service at the 68th Annual Teen City Government Day ceremony. After they receive their awards, they’ll have the opportunity to learn about city government at City Hall and even be able to participate in that evening’s City Council meeting. We are so proud of our winners: Vaughn Forsyth (scholarship), Moriah Riggins (leadership), Salvador Medina (school and community service), and Emma Bell (all-around outstanding - Glendon Rodgers Award).
Our top-ranked Marching Band and Color Guard performers will compete this coming Saturday in the Section Championships. We look forward to watching them continue to impress judges with their performances. Next week marks the opening of our fall musical, Spamalot! The show runs November 14 - 16, so make sure to come enjoy the hilarious Monty Python antics!
Our next progress report window opens on November 18. Reminder: if your student needs some additional help in one or more subjects, we have an excellent after-school tutoring program that runs from 4:15pm to 5:15pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a bus provided for students needing later transportation. Please note: Tutoring will be cancelled on Tuesday, November 5, due to election polling on our campus, and there will be no late bus that day. All students can access www.tutor.com 24 hours a day for academic supports in a variety of subjects.
Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress.
