Greetings, Falcon Families!
There is no school on Monday, February 10.
This past week, we continued to celebrate Black History Month, while also honoring our amazing counseling team for National School Counselor Appreciation Week! We are so grateful for all they do to help students achieve their academic and career goals!
Our Spring Blood Drive is scheduled for February 13, in collaboration with Houchin Community Blood Bank; students 16 and older are invited to participate. Permission slips are available in the Activities office. Also happening on February 13 is a Valentine movie night. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy a movie with their favorite valentine. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. This week is our Spirit Week. Dress up days are as follows: Tuesday wear 90's attire, Wednesday wear Pan African attire (red, green and purple), Thursday wear your favorite sports attire, and Friday wear red, pink or white.
Playoffs for winter sports begin this week! Thank you for your support of our amazing Falcon athletes!
Progress Report #3 grades close this week, and there are only a few short weeks before the end of Quarter 3, so if your student is struggling in a particular subject, please encourage him/her to attend our after-school tutoring sessions. Tutoring sessions are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school until 5:15pm in room 1101. A late bus will be provided. IHS also offers 24-hour access to Tutor.com, which provides individualized academic support.
Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress. Our Parent and Community Center Liaison, Dolores DeLeon, has organized many events throughout the year to provide critical information, support parent involvement, and build community among our families!
Speaking of involvement, we'd love your feedback on the district's Annual Parent and Family Survey. The survey is open through February 23.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 661.834.8001 - we appreciate your support!
Sincerely,
Guillermo Alvarado, Ed.D
