Greetings, Falcon Families!
This past week our Choir and Band students did an amazing job performing in their annual concerts. We are so proud of the talent we have on our campus. Our Theater students are getting ready for Cinderella beginning on March 20th. Mark your calendar. Spring sports are off to a good start despite the fickle weather this past week. Additionally, testing began this week, and students are working hard to demonstrate their mastery of academic standards.
Please be aware that Wednesday, March 12 there will be a 1 hour early out for a teacher in-service.
Attention parents of incoming Freshman, there will be an Orientation on March 27 from 5:30p-7:30p. Future Falcons will have the opportunity to get information about the various sports and clubs offered on campus. Information will be coming soon for those interested in being a part of ASB.
Our first Spring Fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 3. This event is open to everyone. There will be food vendors, Easter games and an egg hunt. All are welcome! The Class of 2027 and 2028 are hosting a Baile (dance) for all students. It will be held on campus on Friday, April 4 from 6p-9p. Dance contracts are available in the Activities office.
The end of Quarter 3 is this Friday. With only a few short weeks remaining in the year, please encourage your students to remain committed to their academic success. If your student is struggling in a particular subject, he/she is welcome to attend our after-school tutoring sessions. Tutoring sessions are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school until 5:15pm in the library. A late bus is provided. IHS also offers 24-hour access to Tutor.com, which provides individualized academic support. Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress. Our Parent and Community Center Liaison, Dolores DeLeon, has organized many events throughout the year to provide critical information, support parent involvement, and build community among our families! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 661.834.8001 - we appreciate your support! Sincerely, Guillermo Alvarado, Ed.D Principal, Independence High School
