Greetings, Falcon Families!
Over the past few weeks our Falcon singers and musicians have been performing in CMEA ratings festivals. They have been performing beautifully. We are fortunate to have our Spring musical of Cinderella last for 2 weeks. This is a great opportunity to see how hard our Theater students have been working. Our athletes have been doing well so far this season. There are so many opportunities to see our students shine. We hope you take advantage of these events. Applications for ASB are now open. The deadline to apply is April 4. Current Sophomores and Juniors interested in being a part of Link Crew must apply by April 4. Testing resumed this week, and students are working hard to demonstrate their mastery of academic standards. Our clubs, programs, and sports teams look forward to welcoming incoming freshmen and their families at the Freshman Orientation on Thursday, March 27.
Our first Spring Fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 3. This event is open to everyone. There will be food vendors, Easter games and an egg hunt. All are welcome! Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Baile (dance) that was scheduled for April 4 has been cancelled.
Quarter 3 has ended, and report cards have been mailed out. That means we are now in the final quarter of the school year. With only a few short weeks remaining in the year, please encourage your students to remain committed to their academic success. If your student is struggling in a particular subject, he/she is welcome to attend our after-school tutoring sessions. Tutoring sessions are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school until 5:15pm in the library. A late bus is provided. IHS also offers 24-hour access to Tutor.com, which provides individualized academic support. Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress. Our Parent and Community Center Liaison, Dolores DeLeon, has organized many events throughout the year to provide critical information, support parent involvement, and build community among our families! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 661.834.8001 - we appreciate your support! Sincerely, Guillermo Alvarado, Ed.D Principal, Independence High School
