Greetings, Falcon Families!
Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer for our football team as they battled Highland at our Homecoming game last night! It was an exciting game, with our Falcon athletes clinching the win at 21 to 20. We are also proud of our amazing royalty finalists and our Homecoming Queen and King, Karina De Los Santos and Jared Tan!
Today marks the end of the Kern County Fair, which means our FFA/Ag students and faculty will be packing up their exhibitions. IHS has an outstanding FFA program, and we’re grateful for our teachers who work night and day to help our students achieve success in their business/agricultural ventures. The students participating in the fair have juggled their regular coursework with the major responsibilities of caring for and showing animals - it’s truly impressive.
Yesterday, our Falcon Cheer teams hosted a camp for “Future Falcons,” where students in kindergarten through 8th grade learned cheers and dance routines - they’ll perform with our Varsity cheerleaders at the October 7th football game!
Conditioning for winter sports (soccer, wrestling, and basketball) will begin on October 9 - please make sure you’ve submitted your student’s athletic packet and sports physical!
October will be a busy - but exciting - month, with Senior Nights for Tennis, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Water Polo, Football, Cheer, Band, and Color Guard teams! We’ll also be honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month at our “Pink-Out” games (football and volleyball). Our clubs will host our annual Club Fair Day on October 11, showcasing all the amazing clubs/groups on campus! Students and staff alike are looking forward to our first Food Sale Day, during which clubs invite food trucks and other vendors to sell a variety of food and beverages during lunch, on October 19! We’ll round out the month with our 2nd-Annual Trunk or Treat event!
Interested in more ways to get involved at IHS? Looking for some additional resources? Our Parent and Family Center is here to help! Find out how to become an “observer” on Canvas to track your student’s academic progress. Quarter 1 ends on October 13, so it’s always a good idea to check in and ensure they’re on top of their coursework. Don't forget to check out our "Counseling Corner" section, as well, for important information and deadlines!
This Tuesday, October 3rd, we’ll be hosting a parent orientation for Project Best, YWEL, and BSU! Come learn more about these amazing programs that provide opportunities for students to attend conferences, take field trips, and access scholarships! The orientation will be in the library from 5:30 to 6:30pm, and dinner will be provided. Scan the QR code on this FLYER to RSVP!
Please remember to complete the “Alternative Income Form,” sometimes referred to as a “lunch application.” By completing this simple online form, you can help IHS maintain funding we depend on for critical student resources.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 661.834.8001 - thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,
