Counseling Corner
It is application season for the seniors! We have held several application workshops throughout October and had a presentation from CSUB's EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) on October 27.
We will hold 2 more application workshops on November 15th and 16th for a "review and submit" session. Students should check the Class of 2024 Canvas page to sign up as those dates approach.
If students need help with ANY applications, please put in a request to see your counselor! This includes private and out of state schools.
The ROC/CTEC application opened November 1st for the 2023-2024 school year. Sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. Please keep in mind that attendance, credits (graduation status), and discipline history are all taken into consideration for selection of these programs. Spots are limited for each program. Representatives will be visiting 10th grade history classes during the next two weeks to give students more information. A presentation for the 11th grade students is being scheduled.

Greetings, Falcon Families!
November begins our “Season of Giving” here at IHS. Organized by the United Nations Club and ASB, our annual Thanksgiving food drive is underway; please send any nonperishables with your student to help the cause! Thursday, students 16 and older are invited to participate in our Fall Blood Drive (in collaboration with Houchin Community Blood Bank). In December, we’ll launch our annual “Adopt-A-Star” children’s gift drive and our “Dime Wars” competition, with proceeds donated to a local nonprofit aimed at helping survivors of trafficking. If you’d like to help with any of these events, please contact our Activities Office at [email protected].
As our winter sports begin to practice, scrimmage, and compete, we want to honor the amazing fall athletic season at our annual Fall Sports Awards Night tomorrow (November 13), starting at 6:00pm in the PAC. We’ll have some great photo highlights, along with speeches and tributes to the many exciting moments throughout the season. Big congratulations to our Cross Country runners, who competed last week in the league championships. Natalie Flores earned First Team All League for the Varsity Girls, Jaden Tungate earned First Team All League for the Varsity Boys, and Ayden Galvan won the Frosh/Soph boys race and is the individual Frosh/Soph boys champion.
Our top-ranked Marching Band and Color Guard performers competed yesterday in the Section Championships; currently, these amazing students rank second in the entire state of California. We look forward to watching them continue to impress judges with their “Written in the Stars” performance. If you’d like an opportunity to watch their award-winning routine, come out to the IHS stadium tomorrow evening at 7:00pm for their “Friends and Family” event.
Interested in meeting with our administrative team? Parents are invited to attend our “Coffee with Administration” this Thursday morning (7:45am) in the cafeteria. Hope to see you there!
Our next progress report window opens tomorrow. Reminder: if your student needs some additional help in one or more subjects, we have an excellent after-school tutoring program that runs from 4:15pm to 5:15pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a bus provided for students needing later transportation.
