COUNSELING CORNER
Students will receive their preliminary summer school schedules on Monday, May 13th. Please ask your student to review this with you. A final summer school letter/schedule will be mailed home on Friday, May 24th, from the Kern High School District Office.
**SUMMER SCHOOL STARTS ON MONDAY, JUNE 3rd**
Summer school will take place from June 3rd through July 12th
- 1st semester – Monday, June 3rd to Friday, June 21st
- 2nd semester – Monday, June 24th to Friday, July 12th
Schedule:
- Classes run from 7:30 am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday. You will get 1 break.
- APEX is from 12:15pm-3:15pm.
Holidays:
- There will be no school on Wednesday, June 19th, or Thursday, July 4th.
Absences:
- Students are only allowed 3 absences in a 6-week class and 2 absences in a 3-week class (excused or unexcused).
- Students can be dropped on the 3rd absence in a 3-week class and the 4th absence in a 6-week class.
Transportation:
- Students must provide their own transportation.

Greetings, Falcon Families!
As we approach the end of the school year, we're celebrating all our students' accomplishments. This past week, students selected by their teachers as the best representatives of our school's motto earned the RISE Award, honoring their commitments to responsibility, integrity, service, and excellence. On Thursday, we inducted our senior theatre students into the Thespian Society, and this upcoming week, we'll be hosting Energy Academy and ASB awards. Our annual College Signing Day will take place on Wednesday afternoon, and we'll celebrate all of our college-bound students! The district-wide PEAAK awards will be held that evening at Mechanics Bank Arena, and many of our outstanding Falcons will be recognized.
This past Thursday, we were thrilled to announce the hiring of Paul Golla as the new head football coach and are excited to welcome him into the Falcon family. He is respected on the field and in our community, and his leadership is sure to make a significant impact in propelling our students and the program towards greater success. He comes to IHS from Garces Memorial High School, where he coached for four years. Previously, Coach Golla led the program at Bakersfield High School for 14 years, marked by numerous achievements, including six CIF League Championships, five CIF Division 1 Valley Championships, one CIF Division Regional Bowl Championship, and one CIF Division 1 State Championship.
Finals are almost here, but it's not too late to help improve your student's grades! Tutoring sessions are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school until 5:15pm in room 1101. A late bus will be provided. IHS offers 24-hour access to Tutor.com, which provides individualized academic support.
