Greetings, Falcon Families!
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second week of December! We’re staying in the holiday spirit this week with both choir and orchestra concerts, as well as our annual Falcons Got Talent show, and the Kern Region Forensics League Holiday Extravaganza competition! Your students might want to bring their allowance money on Thursday, as we’ll have our second Food Sale Day of the year! We’ll also be partnering with CAPK to host a food distribution this Thursday, starting at 10am in the student parking lot!

Winter Formal tickets go on sale today! With the theme of "A Night in the Bayou," the dance will be held at the beautiful Nova property on January 24, 2026, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm (students must arrive before 8:00pm in order to gain entry). More details regarding pricing and guest contracts are available on the IHS website and Instagram.
As we return for the final stretch of the first semester, it is imperative that our students focus on demonstrating mastery of the concepts and skills they have learned in the past several months. Please encourage them to attend our after-school tutoring sessions available on Tuesdays through Thursdays (late transportation provided). We even have a special evening of tutoring oriented to our newest Falcons - our annual "Cocoa and Cram" will be held in the cafeteria on December 16 for 2 hours after school. This is an event in which both teachers and Link Crew Leaders will offer tutoring and guidance, along with hot cocoa for some holiday cheer, before finals begin.
Another valuable resource that’s available to students at school and at home is Tutor.com. This website provides 24/7 live, online tutoring services to students in any subject. Tutoring can be via text or video chat, and all tutors are highly trained professionals that can support students with any needs they might have. This includes reviewing concepts, homework assistance, essay analysis, and study help for upcoming tests. Find more information on Kern High’s Digital Resource page.
